NEWS | TRAIN TO BUSAN Director Yeon Sang-ho announces a new zombie movie ahead of his Netflix series debut this month
Distributor Showbox calls the film "the culmination of Yeon Sang-ho’s universe, spanning from Train to Busan to Peninsula."
South Korean director Yeon Sang-ho made a name in the zombie world with his hit Train to Busan (2016). If you haven’t seen it yet, you should. Bring tissues.
He’s also helmed several horror television series, many of which have made their way to Netflix and Hulu, including The Cursed, Hellbound, Monstrous, The Bequeathed, and Parasyte: The Grey.
This month, he has a new Netflix series set to premiere on March 21st. Titled Revelations, the crime thriller series follows a pastor and a detective, driven by their beliefs, who pursue a missing person case. When a divine revelation reveals the culprit who abducted his son, the paster seeks retribution for the crime.
Ahead of the series premiere, Yeon Sang-ho has announced his next project, Gunche, a new zombie horror film expected to release sometime next year. There are no details yet on the plot of the film, but production has started with cast Jun Ji-hyun (My Love from the Star), Go Soo (Missing), and Ji Chang-wook (The Worst of Evil) and Koo Kyo-hwan (D.P.)
The English title of the film hasn’t been revealed yet, but in the Korean language, “gunche” means colony in a biological context — a small glimpse into what may be to come for this film.
In the meantime, watch his newest series Revelations on Netflix starting March 21, 2025.
